Fullwave Solution

Analysis of linear electromagnetic field and current coupling problems in frequency and time domain with Method of Moments MoM. Electrical field integral equation for harmonic excitation is applied to model and resulting equation system is solved.

Pre-Processing in EM Analysis Type is divided into three modes:

  • Geometry Mode - used for initial geometry primitives construction. Here geometry data can be constructed with comfortable CAD features.
  • Model Mode - used for assignment of physical properties to geometry objects. Electrical parameters can be given to geometry. Complex circuits can be constructed to represent lumped devices.
  • Mesh Mode - model objects are converted to discrete elements ready for calculations. In this mode all calculation elements are accessible and can be further processed or fine tuned, if required, by advanced user.
Hybrid Solutions

In EMC Studio XTalk Analysis Type cross talk in complex cable structures can be investigated in frequency and time domains. Termination devices can be supplied with linear and non-linear elements.
The calculation of cross talk is done by MTL methods that are implemented in the calculation modules. To gain maximum flexibility a cable harness is subdivided into small segments compared to wavelength. Each segment can represent a different geometry. MTL parameters of all segments are calculated and calculation model for network analysis is generated.
To calculate transmission line coefficients of complex cable-systems for cross talk computations EMC Studio offers a very accurate and fast 2D field solver (Static2D) based on the Method of Auxiliary Sources (MAS).
Circuit analysis can be performed either by an included SPICE3f5 module or any other SPICE3f5 compatible network analysis program. The SPICE link allows the usage of nearly arbitrary terminations for DC, AC or transient analysis.
XTalk Analysis Type provides user with convenient tools for complex cable structures and complex terminated devices modeling.

Radiation Hybrid

Emission analysis of linear and non-linear complex cable-antenna coupling problems in frequency and time domain.
A circuit model of an arbitrary transmission line structure is automatically generated. The included 2D field solver calculates in background the transmission line parameters with respect to the reference conductor. Metallic surface structure is assumed to be the reference conductor. Sum current on transmission lines is converted to impressed current sources on wire segments. Radiation and coupling to antenna is calculated by applying MoM solver.?

Susceptibility Hybrid

Immunity analysis of linear and non linear complex field-cable coupling problems in frequency and time domain.
Field distribution along the cable structure is calculated. The transmission line circuit is supplemented with sources reflecting the incident field. Analysis model is calculated with SPICE 3f5 compatible solver.

LF Electric Field

In automotive EMC numerous problems occur in the low frequency range, immunity and radiation problems. Low frequency problems in automobiles and other systems can be calculated with quasi-static approaches. Such approaches can be valid for frequencies up to 10 MHz in automobiles.
The Low-Frequency-Engine uses the Static3D solver bases on Method of Moments and generates an equivalent circuit that can be calculated with network analysis.
A static solver calculates the LC-coupling matrices of arbitrary conductive structures with or without a dielectric coating. As a result of Static3D calculation we get list of mutual and self L and C coefficients as output file. The LC matrices are transformed into an equivalent circuit of the model. This network which can have nearly arbitrary termination circuits is solved with SPICE3f5 compatible solver. Solution is valid as long as considered minimum wavelength is approx. 10 times larger than structure length.
The advantage of the quasi-static approach combined with the calculation of an equivalent circuit is, that when the coupling matrices are calculated, the problem is reduced to the calculation of an electrical network. Also time domain calculations can be easily done with an equivalent circuit.
Within the EMC Studio Static3D Analysis Type environment the complete calculation chain is supported with minimum needed user interaction.

LF Magnetic Field

Numerical modeling of low frequency magnetic fields interaction with thin 3D sheets characterized by combined resistive and magnetic properties.

Reduction of thickness leads to approximate boundary conditions, written for tangential electric and magnetic fields of free space. These fields are represented only by vector potential, which is calculated based on single and double layer currents, located on the interface surface. Resulting equations are solved via Method of Moments. Automotive and industrial magnetic shielding problems can be effectively solved in frequency range from DC up to several MHz.
